Dave Chappelle Will Host The First SNL Post 2020 Election

A report from the Indian Express this weekend claimed Dave Chappelle will host the Saturday Night Live episode right after the US presidential election on the 3rd of November. Reportedly, Dave will host the November 7th episode of the NBC sketch-comedy classic.

Thus far, the musical guest hasn’t been confirmed but this marks the 47-year-old comedian’s second time as a host on the popular series. Coincidentally, Chappelle was the host right after Trump won back in 2016.

Reportedly, Dave also earned an Emmy award for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his role on the show, created by Lorne Michales and produced by Broadway Video.

As most know, Dave Chappelle has been sought after as a guest on many comedy series ever since he returned to form following years away from the entertainment industry. Dave has released a number of comedy specials since his return to the stand-up comedy game, some of which have been criticized.

For instance, Dave came under fire for his special, Sticks and Stones, in which he touched on racial politics in the United States, the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the faux-hate crime allegedly perpetrated by Jussie Smollett.

Jussie, initially, was in the headlines as a victim of a racist hate crime in the streets of Chicago after he was returning home from a Subway sandwich restaurant. However, it didn’t take long for the investigators to turn their attention toward Jussie.

Police sources began speaking with media outlets, saying how they thought that Jussie orchestrated the hate crime against himself for publicity and notoriety. Dave Chappelle referenced the infamous scandal in his special and famously referred to him as “Juicy,” over and over again.

Despite the fact Dave’s special was hailed by fans, mainstream media critics claimed Dave’s latest project missed the mark and was offensive at times. Later, when Dave accepted his Emmy Award for comedy, the comic told the haters to “shut up forever.”

Fans of Dave know he first came to prominence in a big way with The Chappelle’s Show which originally aired on Comedy Central. The series was picked up by Netflix earlier this week.
